I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last week, but let me tell you, I did NOT stay smart. It is so incredibly difficult to exercise while traveling with others. I can exercise pretty successfully when I travel on my own for work and just have commitments during business hours but when you travel with co-workers they expect you to do dinner every single night! And to eat a big lunch AND dinner every single day! We ate and ate and then ate some more. Just when I thought I could not eat another single thing they insisted on going to find some Indian food. I cannot say no to Indian food. I managed to break a sweat three of the 5 days so not bad but not the workout I'm accustomed to.When I eat crappy my fatigue really hits me which makes me want to eat more for more energy which makes me more lethargic. So my weekend was shot with useless activities and horrible eating. Let's re-cap... warning... I have no shame admitting my idleness...
Friday afternoon/evening consisted of back-to-back episodes of What Not to Wear and a yummy hot fudge sundae.
Saturday consisted of sleeping until 8:30, being a tad productive around my house, going back to bed until 1:30, emailing friends, going to a BBQ at a co-workers and emailing some more.
Sunday consisted of sleeping until 8:30, getting a pumpkin bagel at Einsteins, catching up with friends on facebook, going to church, watching back-to-back-to-back episodes of DCC (hallelujah that next week is the season finale!) and catching up with more friends on facebook. I literally spent about 3-4 hours on facebook today.
So blah to you Holiday Inn. You did NOT help me to stay smart. You helped me to stay lazy!

I am so proud of you for being so open about you lack of productiveness. I so cannot relate & find you descriptive wkend completely unfamiliar
I enjoyed this post very, very much.
This is one of the main reasons I hate traveling for work. My last workshop tour for Schwab I gained 15 pounds!!
You get into town - sales takes you out to some really nice restaurant. The next morning you eat the buffet muffins and pastries they always have a workshops. Lunch is about the same as breakfast - buffet of whatever. Then dinner at the airport which could be McDonald's or Taco Bell or Panda Express (if you're lucky). The next city just repeats the process... 13 cities later you can't fit in your suit.
