Duck Creek Village

What a great day! I've been up to Deana's family "cabin" (lets go ahead and call it land) every summer since I've known Deana minus the summer I was in Boston. One year it was just the two of us but most years there is a group of us. We pitch a tent, do some hiking and biking, cook in the dutch oven and just relax. Thursday morning I looked at the weather forecast and it called for high in the mid-50s dipping down into the 30s at night. I don't love the cold. At all. So I took the initiative and reserved us (Deana, me, Aryn) a small lodge for the weekend. We will never go back to pitching a tent! We are warm, we get to shower, we have a kitchenette, we have a hot tub and wireless internet. AND we still get to go hiking, biking and enjoying this beautiful country up here.
We got up leisurely this morning, had breakfast, went on a small hike and then Aryn and I went biking. I did fear for my life at times (I don't mountain bike often) but it was perfect. Perfect sunny skies, perfect weather with just the need for a light jacket. We then had a great lunch and are now back napping, blogging, relaxing at the lodge for an hour or two before we are on to the next activity.
And yes, we still cooked in the dutch oven last night; fabulous taco salad. Tonight? potatoes, carrots, onion and peach cobbler. Yum!

For Tyler, Katie, Eric Campbell, Tom and Ty who came up last year and camped with us... I'm sorry. Cause this lodge thing is the best! ;)
