back to life

It took me a bit of time to catch up on everyone's blogs today and now I'm finally posting.

I had a GREAT time in Chicago. Well, I had to work which included standing on my feet at a tradeshow from 9am to 5pm two days and 9am to 3pm one day. That part, not so fun. It was what happened after we left the tradeshow that was fun.

I flew in early on Friday and went to the Cubbies vs. Rockies game. I got there and it was pouring rain. I thought for sure they would cancel the game but after about a 20 minute delay the rain subsided and the game started. The Rockies stink. I mean STINK! That is all I can say about them. They were ahead 9-1 in the 7th and lost 9-10. Really?! Ridiculous! But it was fun to watch the Cubs fans go absolutely crazy. After the game, music started playing and everyone was dancing. I'm not sure if they play the same song after every win, anyone know? I got a bit of sun, ate my nachos and enjoyed sitting in the bleacher section (which is general admission, crazy). I'm pretty sure the Cubs swept the Rockies and Monday night on ESPN there was all this talk about how great the Cubs are this year; how they have one of the best records, blah, blah. Can they really go on talking about them like that when it was the Rockies that they swept? I don't think quite yet...

The weather was fabulous all weekend. The convention center is right on Lake Michigan. It was a bit painful looking out the window and seeing the blue skies and sailboats.

We ate at a fabulous steak house one night; outside seating literally on the sidewalk. We were there for probably 3+ hours. Another night we ate at a really good sushi restaurant. I had a salmon roll with avocado, mango, jalapeno and strawberry. Yum!

I have been to Chicago so many times for work and have never stayed an extra night or two to enjoy the city. I must do this. The city is fantastic. The cab drivers are insane but the city is fantastic.

Glad you had a great time in Chicago. I couldn't agree more about it being an amazing city. And watching a ball game at Wrigley Field feels like sitting right in the middle of history!

Next time you are in Chicago, be sure to go to DIck's Last Resort, on the pier on the lake. An incredible kick! Also their museums are spectacular and sandwiches at Mort's Deli, downtown, can't be missed. And on and on.

Was Eric there? Or just other work peeps?

Wow, your dad (and you, for that matter... I know you had a great time last year as well) really sold Chicago for me. I can't comment right now. I must go plan a trip.
