Well, tonight was monumental for me. In all my years of living I had never had the experience of watching Power Rangers. That all changed this evening. There is a family at church expecting child #4 and the mother is flat in bed. I was asked to help out tonight so I wandered over there right after work and watched the 3 kids - 11, 3, 18 months. And yes we watched Power Rangers. It was fascinating. I can see why an 11 year old boy likes it but it was hard for me not to laugh out loud. So so silly. Oh and we watched Air Bud too. No we didn't watch TV the entire time; just when they were ready for bed.
The kids were very well behaved. That 3 year old could not get close enough to me. She was climbing all over me, around me, on me; wanting to sit right next to me. It was cute although it wasn't so cute when she picked her nose and rolled it up into a ball or when she licked her hands like a kitty cat and then wiped them on me. Didn't love that so much. I realize I'm irresistible (right EW?) but boogers are not my favorite thing.
I know what all my friends with children are thinking. Stop thinking it. I know. It just hasn't been my course in life yet and sometimes I forget when I'm not around children often.
So I'm off to Duck Creek Village tomorrow with Aryn and Deana to spend some time in the mountains relaxing. Probably the mother of 3 needs more of a weekend getaway than I do but I can take it and I'm gonna. :)

Just reading the words "Air Bud" makes me chuckle.
I don't just forget, there are so many things I don't even know. Dinosaur-shaped chicken nuggets, Gogurt, and I could tell my 3-year-old niece was a bit frustrated when she asked me to sing a song from Mulan with her, and I just gave her a blank look. She kept starting, needing me to help her finish, and I was clueless. She was very disappointed that I hadn't seen it. I've failed as an aunt, I tell you.
That poor woman does need a break. And sometimes I feel guilty for going off to play while my sisters don't really have that option. But I know that when the roles are reversed they won't hesitate to point and laugh as they head out the door and leave me with the boogers. Guilt gone.
Went it comes to children's TV there are some good shows and one's that will literally melt your brain: Kim Possible is Good. Dora is very very Bad. Jimmy Neutron is Good. Diego is VERY VERY BAD. Sponge Bob (believe it or not) is Good. The Wiggles is EVIL!!!
I dont care how many kids you have, that is still gross. And even worse when they are not your own children. Just helping Madisyn on the potty if you get my drift makes my stomach curl. Some things are just better left alone :)
You deserve a weekend getaway as much as anyone. I say, enjoy it while you can. I can't say that I am fond of Power Rangers, although I have seen it more times than I care to. Glad you had a fun time!
I love thinking of you sitting there watching "Air Bud"...
and sure wish I had known you'd be "lodging" it this weekend. I SO could have handled that.
