Rockies Home Opener...

Eric and I headed downtown at 11:30 in preparation for the 2:05 start of the Rockies season opener. It was a splendid 59 degrees, sunny, very slight breeze as we sat outside at McCormicks for a little lunch and to people watch. At 1:15 we headed to the ballpark to watch the pre-game festivities which included fireworks, a crazy amount of helium balloons, streamers, members of all the armed forces and yes a spectacular fly-by of F-16 fighter jets. Wow.
The crowd was ready to welcome back their 2007 National League Champions. It was the perfect setting for a perfect game.

But then... that Micah Owings (pitcher for the Dbacks) was on fire. The whole game was him. He allowed 2 hits (1? 2?) in 8 innings (okay, my stats might be a little off; its late). But he was unbelievable and the Rockies just couldn't get any offense going. The Rockies got killed 1-8 no thanks to their newly acquired starting pitcher Redman. Boooooo.

But it was still fun to be there with all the excitement and crowds. Hope tomorrow's game is better.

Erin's early World Series prediction... DBacks/RedSox. Yes, that is what I wanted to see last year so I'm predicting it again for this year. Why not.

Erin, I am terribly sorry, your loss is my gain, I was so proud of my D-Backs I could have cried! Home Game Opener tonight, and yes, yours truly will be there... Hopefully we have one of those nights again :) I really am sorry you had to go to a crummy (for you) game, that is never fun :(
