leaving the Northeast

I felt so sad this afternoon as I got on the plane to leave Western NY. I LOVE this place. Granted I was spoiled by amazing weather all weekend which is somewhat unusual for this area in April. There was naturally growing grass everywhere. and flowers. and trees. and quaint towns. and deer. and canadian geese. and great suburban neighborhoods. Do you think people feel this way as they leave Phoenix or Las Vegas? I had the same feeling today as when I was in Portland, OR last summer. It feels like home. It feels like I want to live in a community/neighborhood where I have to worry about beautifying my yard, where I want to bake homemade chocolate chip cookies on a rainy day and vacuum my house. I want to know my neighbors and watch the seasons change and be grumpy in the winter cause it is so gray and gloomy.

Don't worry Mom, I'm not moving.

But I would move if the stars aligned. Unfortunately Eric has to live in his territory which includes Colorado, Utah, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Kansas and Oklahoma. Ugh.

No, I'm not saying we are engaged either. I just want everyone to know that is isn't possible with my current circumstances to live in such a place.

Instead I will enjoy periodic visits to such a place and thoroughly enjoy that part of the country when I can.

I feel that same way everytime I'm in New England or South Carolina or Washington or Oregon or Kentucky or Ohio or Indiana or Illinois...yeah, I feel that way a lot too.
Love that you had such a great time there. I love that someday we can call each other while we bake cookies and vacuum our houses (or at least I will well instruct my hired help to do such things!)

Don't be fooled. I'm so ready to get outta here.

And I get the hint, I'll stop suggesting you move to Denver. :)

Except that you ARE (for all intents and purposes) engaged... seriously, what's the DEAL?! I can't handle this much drama. :)

I LOVE BACK EAST! I totally agree with everything you just said. It is pure bliss. Amazing and green. No, people dont feel that way when they leave Arizona, they probably wish upon the stars never to see brown again!

Hi Erin! How are you? I love the East Coast too! I was a nanny in the suburbs of Philly back in '89 and when I moved away I swore that my future husband and I would move back there some day... Every once in a while I tell Kyle we need to move over there.
