I really wanted to make a flourless chocolate concoction in these fun ramekins. I feel like I finally figured out baking with eggs AND flour in this high altitude. This completely threw me. Lets just say they weren't as good as they should have been. We still ate them but I still need to experiment with oven temp to get this right. And I will because flourless chocolate is one of my favorite desserts.
After receiving my nephew Tyler's hand-written homesick letter this past Wednesday, we made a decision to drive up to Craig, CO and surprise him and visit him on Sunday. (He is serving a mission for the LDS church). Well the snow started on Thursday and never stopped (still snowing) and Craig is over a 4 hr drive without snowy roads deep in the Rockies. We had to change our plans which really, really disappointed me. I know we'll get another opportunity but I really had my heart set on it for this weekend. He was set to speak in church today and then wanted to practice his missionary skills on us. Bummer, bummer, bummer.Instead we decided to check out the local Catholic church and attended mass. It was a great service and we met and spoke with the Father after. I think Eric enjoyed feeling back in his roots and I enjoyed learning and watching.
But the highlight of our day had to have been watching the Czech vs Russia Olympic hockey game. If you were to watch that game, where would you watch it? A local Czech sports restaurant, right? Seriously people, there is a Czech restaurant here in Denver. That place was packed with Czech's rooting, cheering and going crazy for their country. It was such a fun atmosphere (until they lost and then it was dead and sad). While there we had this food. It was SO yummy!!Potato pancakes
We will definitely go back there again. And here is random art from downtown. Its cool, right?
I will say it was nice to be home this weekend. That is two in a row for us and next weekend will make three. I love it!
