DC - the end

Tyler and I are sitting at the airport awaiting our departure from DC. We had such a great time but I wasn't very good at taking pictures. Mostly cause I couldn't figure out how to get good pictures at night. Oh well. Here are some pics that I did get...

(Tyler in front of the White House)

(Tyler in front of Washington Monument. This monument was enormous. And yes Tyler looks like an egyptian prince)
(Tyler on the subway. His first experience in the underground world. It became one of our favorite places when we were tired of walking)
(Of course I had to hit a baseball game. Nationals vs. Phillies. The Nationals STINK!)

(Arlington cemetary. Uh-mazing)

(view from Robert E Lee's home in Arlington Cemetary)
(Do I need to tell anyone this is the Capitol??)
(Ahhh, the globes. The Botanical Garden had a globe display all around the city block They were environmental issues. This one had to do with how much trash an average person produces each year. I loved the globes)
(Inside the Capitol. These paintings are so so big. I made Tyler stand in front so you could get an idea of how large there are)

So now that we've been to DC here is our list of to-dos and dont-dos.

To Do:

Ride the Subway

Pay the extra money for a tour bus - do not try and walk all the monuments including Arlington Cemetery

Contact your congressman to go on the Capitol tour. Very cool

Rent a car for one day to get out of the city and see the suburbs.

Be out at dusk to see the fireflies

Go to Iwo Jima twice cause it is really cool

Stay at a hotel within a 5 minute walk of the Metro/Subway

Don't Do:

Do not pay for the IMAX show at the Air and Space Museum

Try not to go to DC in July or August. It is very very humid

Don't wear flip-flops the entire time. Look like a nerdy tourist and wear sneakers.
Thats it. Such a great city to visit. Thanks for the fun Tyler!!

Another thing to do:
CLOSE THE GIANT HOTEL CURTAINS ALL THE WAY AND SLEEP TILL NOON.

I must agree with the nerdy tourist/wear tennis shoes tip.
My mom's arches dropped from walking so much in DC years back... AND she was wearing tennies. OUCH!
