He arrived!

Eli Norman Werth. Born 3/31 at 10:02pm and weighing a whopping 9lbs 12ozs, 21 inches long. Who produces such a large baby for baby #1?! Apparently I do!

The story... my water broke at 2am on the 31st and because I was Beta strep positive, we headed to the hospital to start IV antibiotics. And when I say my water broke, my water gushed and then it continued to gush on and off for about 3 hours. I had no clue that could happen. They had me walk around to see if we could get contractions going but nothing was really happening so at 6am, they started the pitocin drip. That stuff is pure evil! The contractions came on quick and they came on hard. After about 2.5 hours, I was in desperate need of an epidural already. I felt a bit wimpy but I hurt. There was an issue with the epidural and after about an hour they had to re-do it. Not fun.

Pretty much at that point I was in la la land and stuck in bed. I was able to nap a lot which was nice. But my progress was slow - very slow. Finally at 8pm I started pushing. Well this little guy had no desire to be born vaginally. His poor head was quite large and my pelvis bones quite narrow. So at 9:30p, my doctor said lets just do a c-section. I was 100% fine with that decision at that point. It was time to get the baby out. I was done. And I really wanted a March baby.

I'm feeling fairly well. It will just be a process to recover. Baby Eli is doing great. He seems to have figured out breast feeding quite well so far which makes me happy. And Eric is ecstatic. This little guy looks just like him. Touch of red hair and everything!! Eric was the perfect support coach. He did everything that needed to be done. And when that baby finally was here we both just cried and cried. What a day! What an experience! What a new adventure!

Great story! He looks so big in the crib. Holy cow, he rivals Adelaide already in size. I'm sure he'll catch up to her fast. Let me know with the breastfeeding, I can come over sometime if you want. So excited for you guys.
