Journal Entry #4

First off, how excited am I that So You Think You Can Dance is back on TV?! VERY excited!! But some of these people... really?... REALLY? I could be on the show. And others... one word... mocumentary. They aren't real, right?

Moving on... Will the truth really set you free? I guess it depends on what truth means. Should we be fearful about finding the truth? Should we blindly accept truth that has been taught from our youth? What happens when we discover there is more truth to the truth we know? Should we shy away from learning more in fear of what we may discover? Is that what we should do?

I don't believe so. We must own our truth and have confidence in our truth and live our lives by our truth.

So I'm embarking on a quest to find my truth.

Step 1. What does 'fullness of the gospel' mean? We are taught the Book of Mormon contains the fullness of the gospel. I went and purchased a fresh, new Book of Mormon this evening along with a highlighter. Everywhere I believe gospel principles are taught and mentioned, I will highlight the passage. I'm very excited about this.
Oh and my friend Aryn is doing this right along with me. She and I have had our own little book club of late.

So why now you may ask? Because I've learned there is more truth to the truth I know. And I'm not one to sit idly by; I want to know for myself. I want to wrap my head around these new concepts and figure out where they fit in my belief system so that I can be even that much more sure of my truth.

Let the quest begin...

Seeking truth... I think most people are scared to find truth. “You can't handle to truth...” I think the Lord is itching to reveal more about Himself to us but we are too scared. I think the Lord is itching to reveal more truths about ourselves (he knows us better than we know ourselves) but we are too scared.

I'm so glad you will sit and ponder the mysteries of the universe (and the church/gospel) with me, and give me your perspective. This church we're part of has such a rich (and yes, controversial) history... fascinating how it has evolved into the church it is today. I love digging deep into the basic elements of faith. And I'm much more interested in the BOM now than ever before... looking forward to reading it again with fresh eyes!

What a great quest! I love the idea of a new Book of Mormon to highlight thru. Mine is so marked up from prior discoveries that maybe it is time to retire the missionary scriptures and embark on a new journey thru the scriptures. Definitely something for me to ponder.

Line upon line, precept upon precept; here a little, there a little.

The greatest truths to be found in the Gospel are simple and profound, not deep and hard to discover. The deep ones, which are interesting and enriching, will only come if we are guided in our quest by faith in the living God. They are, however, not necessary for our salvation.

One does not even have to be ablt to read to gain eternal lives.
