Week 34

My company puts on an annual users conference for each of our product lines. Its an opportunity for clients to get together and learn more about the product and to discuss ideas for product improvement with us. Since we have an office in the Las Vegas area we usually have our conference there every other year. The clients love Vegas so it makes it really easy for us. But on the off years we try and do something different. This year we convened on Amelia Island, Florida at the Ritz Carlton which is on the Atlantic coast outside Jacksonville (so Northern Florida). Wow! What a place! Click here to see the amazing resort we stayed at.

We usually don't go this fancy so I was quite impressed. But can I tell you what torture it was to stay at this place and not be able to enjoy it?! I was in the conference all day and then in the evenings was preparing for the next day. Our clients were able to hit the beach every afternoon and then gloat about what a fabulous afternoon they had. Sigh.

I did manage to get up twice during the week at (yes, you are hearing me right) 5:45am and run along the beach to watch the sunrise. What a great way to start the day.

But Friday afternoon at 1pm we were done and this was my view for about 2 hours before I had to head to the airport. I waded in the bath temperature water so tempted to just dive right in and then relaxed on a beach chair under an umbrella and soaked up the ocean air. It made the week all worthwhile!
After a long flight home Friday afternoon/evening, I came home to this...

Yes, Eric bought himself a gun. I think he said it was a Winchester. Heavens. I'm not a huge gun fan so I'm still warming up to the fact that this thing will be in the same house with me.

He went bird hunting Friday with some of his co-workers. He loves it. So you know what that means right? We are having Chuckers for dinner tonight. They shot Chuckers. What in the world are Chuckers?! (Who knows if I'm even spelling that correct). But they are birds and he brought home the meat and it is in the fridge marinating for our grill tonight. At least he kills for food. What a guy.

Ron used to hunt lots when he was growing up. Because of this we have 11 yes you read that right 11 guns in my house. They are locked up in a gun cabinet in my closset. He could not believe I would not let him display this lovely gun cabinet in my family room.
